This Privacy Policy explains how PickerPilot ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. We are an independent developer, not a large corporation, and we take your privacy seriously.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: Email address when you create an account
• Profile Information: Nicknames, age groups, allergies, medical conditions, skin conditions, dietary preferences, and other preferences you provide
• Scan Data: Photos of product labels you upload for analysis
• Usage Data: App usage statistics, scan history, feature interactions, and analytics events
• Device Information: Basic device info (OS version, device type) for app functionality and troubleshooting
• Local Storage: Data stored on your device including preferences, cached scan results, and account tokens

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide ingredient analysis and safety assessments based on your profiles
• Create and manage your family profiles
• Store your scan history for future reference
• Improve our AI analysis accuracy through aggregated, anonymized data
• Send important service updates, security alerts, or policy changes
• Monitor app performance and fix technical issues
• Analyze app usage patterns to improve features and user experience

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

• Consent: For processing health-related profile data (allergies, conditions, preferences) and for sharing data with third-party AI providers
• Contract necessity: To provide the App services you requested (account creation, scan processing, profile management)
• Legitimate interest: For app analytics, security, fraud prevention, and service improvement using anonymized data
• Legal obligation: When required to comply with applicable laws or respond to valid legal requests

You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or contacting us. Withdrawing consent may limit App functionality.

AI Processing by Third Parties

To provide ingredient analysis, your uploaded product images and associated profile data are processed by third-party artificial intelligence (AI) model providers. These providers receive:

• Product images you upload for scanning
• Ingredient lists extracted from those images
• Your profile identifiers (not your name or email) to generate personalized safety assessments

We do not share your email address, payment information, or direct identifiers with these AI providers. However, images and profile data sent for analysis may be stored or processed by these providers according to their own privacy and security practices, which we do not control.

By using the App, you consent to this processing.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using cloud infrastructure services:

• All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
• Only you can access your personal data through your authenticated account
• Scan images are stored temporarily and processed securely
• We use industry-standard authentication and access controls

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and accept no liability for unauthorized access beyond our reasonable control.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With cloud infrastructure providers who help us operate the App under strict confidentiality obligations
• With third-party AI providers as described in the "AI Processing by Third Parties" section above
• With analytics services to understand app usage and improve the product (using anonymized or pseudonymized data)
• When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
• To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others
• In anonymized, aggregated form that cannot reasonably be used to identify you

We do not share your personal health information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Business Changes & Data Handling

As an independent developer, the App may be discontinued, sold, or transferred at any time due to business decisions. In such events:

• We will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance
• You will have an opportunity to export or delete your data before any transfer
• If the App is acquired, your data may be transferred to the acquiring party under similar privacy protections
• If the App is discontinued without acquisition, we will delete personal data within 90 days of service termination, except where retention is required by law

We are not liable for data loss resulting from business discontinuation beyond what is reasonably within our control.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, through our cloud infrastructure providers. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to these jurisdictions, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

Data Breaches

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable data protection laws. We will make reasonable efforts to contain the breach, assess its scope, and inform affected users in a timely manner.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and review your personal data
• Update or correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and associated personal data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent (withdrawing consent may limit App functionality)
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

• Your personal information and profile data are removed within 30 days
• Scan images are deleted within 30 days
• Anonymized, aggregated scan data (with all personal identifiers removed and not reasonably re-identifiable) may be retained indefinitely for service improvement and AI training
• Some data may be retained longer if required by law, regulation, or for legal compliance purposes

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at pickerpilot@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy in the App or via email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App and may request deletion of your data.
